Thanksgiving Weekend 2010

Yeah, so sorry I haven't posted this sooner.  I just don't even have an excuse besides trying to get caught upon everyday tasks and take care of stuff before we head to Indiana in less than a week now.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Brian's mom got to come down on Wednesday night and stay until Sunday morning.  We spent Wednesday night just hanging and talking while I baked some banana and pumpkin bread.  Avery was jealous of any time Nana (that's what we call Brian's mom) spent holding Max.  She has only been jealous of the dog so this was a first.  Thanksgiving day was spent cooking most of the day and watching the Macy's Parade.  Avery and I got out our aprons and had fun making stuff together.  Fern helped too which was great and I am so thankful for.  Brian ended up doing the Turkey because by the time we got to making it Max was awake and wanted fed and cuddled so I was occupied.  :)  We ended up eating around 5.  It was perfect!  The only thing was we didn't cook some of the turkey all the way through so some got thrown out, but there was still plenty to go around with lots of leftovers.  :)  Every year I say I am going to buy a turkey with one of those buttons that pop up when its done and this year showed me again that we really needed one.  We tried a couple different thermometers and both said the turkey was warm enough, but were wrong.  So that is my goal for next Thanksgiving with the turkey.  :)  We also went and got a paper to look at all the ads for the next day and headed to bed.

Max's first Thanksgiving.  He is thankful for mommy and daddy.

Then we decided once up in bed we needed to go out that night and try to get a gift for Avery Toys R Us had going on sale Thursday night.  So Brian headed out after 11 and ended up waiting in a line that wrapped completely around the building and giving up around 1am (he had only made it halfway around the building and I suggested he come home.  It wasn't that important).  We then took advantage of Fern being here and went shopping later on Friday afternoon after the craziness of the morning was over.  We got most of the kids stuff done in that day.   Then we came home and put up the tree while listening to Christmas music.  It was great.  Avery even helped put up ornaments this year or for awhile anyway until she said she had had enough.  :)
The Christmas tree box is the perfect resting spot.  :)

stocking always end up on her feet.  :)

Saturday was shopping at the Nex.  Fern likes to go there when she comes, so off we went.  Then we came home and took advantage of having Fern around to take our Christmas card picture (which should be shipped out on the 14th according to Hallmark).

Sunday morning is when Fern had to head out early in the morning so after that we just spent the day relaxing and enjoying our last full day together before Brian had to go out on a workup.

Well, I don't think I should finish my Thanksgiving post without actually saying some of the things that make me thankful.  I am most thankful for my Lord and savior Jesus Christ and his love for me even though I do not deserve it.  I am also so very thankful for my husband and all he does for us and the love he has for us.  I am thankful that we got to come down here and all live together as a family because there was a time when the Navy was taking so much money from us we didn't see how it would be possible.  I am thankful for the birth of my son and that even though it didn't go according to plan or timing he arrived healthy and with all his fingers and toes.  I am actually thankful it didn't go according to my edd (estimated due date) since he had a true knot in is cord.  I am thankful for my beautiful daughter and the chance to watch her grow and change and all the funny things she does.  I am thankful for my wonderful family including my inlaws .  They are the most amazing support system!  I have so much to be thankful for!  Avery said she was thankful for Nana and here is a cute video of Max from Thanksgiving night.
