Williamsburg

So, in honor of Veteran's Day Colonial Williamsburg was offering a free weekend for active duty or retired military and their families.  So we decided to take advantage of it and had a great time.  It was a little stressful getting everyone out the door and ready.  We thought everyone was fed and ready, but Max cried as soon as we got in the car, so I was stressed before we left.  We got there and fed the troops and we had a great time.  We also went to the Yankee Flagship Store.  I was actually disappointed by their candles.  I don't know what I thought it was going to be like, but I was hoping to find a candle for my bro that he loves that they don't make.  Why I thought they would have it there.  Idk.  lol.  There was a really good little fudge shop, candy store, Santa was there, and a Chrsitmas room where it actually snowed.  One thing I thought was cool which I want to go back and take Avery to do is make your own candle.  It reminded me of back in the day at Kings Island where you could put different color sand into a twisted coke bottle. And they also let you dip candles in different color wax and that reminded me of youth camp in South Carolina.  We finished the day eating at Outback and then on home to bed.

The leaves were beautiful!

I am so glad we went the weekend we did.  The leaves are finally changing down here and it was so pretty.  I have missed seeing lots of trees changing colors.  Living in Wa (the evergreen state) you don't get to see too many trees change.  I really want to go to a park this week and take some family pics with the pretty leaves as a back drop.  So anyways, Avery was more interested in the multitude of squirrels and the horse poo from the carriages.  Brian and I think enjoyed it more and learned some cool things about our past.  I love history.  I actually got pretty emotional at the end of the day when they did a reenactment of when Virginia decided they were going for independence.  It was so neat.  We want to go back in the spring and see more because we didn't get to do it all in a day because they pretty much closed up stuff at 5.

So on the way home all I could think about was how hard it going to be to do a whole family vacation that is more than a day.  We were totally exhausted!  It will be fun though to take the kids on a full vacation someday.
